Collection: ANNA YUSCHUK
ANNA YUSCHUK is a Stratford-based Ukrainian artist who explores human consciousness through complex paintings that bridge the gap between representation and abstraction, Yuschuk compels the viewer to focus on the act of seeing itself. Her work emphasizes mindfulness and direct experience rather than describing an exterior world. As visual art critic Gary Michael Dault has observed, the artist uses “light as stuff of deepening and proliferating discourse”.
Yuschuk was born and studied art in Lviv, Ukraine, graduating with an MFA from Lviv State Academy of Fine Arts in 1989. In 1990, just before the collapse of the former Soviet Union, Yuschuk immigrated to Canada, moving to Toronto, where she has exhibited her artwork in over forty exhibitions in commercial and public galleries.Through an extensive body of work and numerous solo and group exhibitions, Yuschuk’s work has evolved through many creative stages, culminating in a true and successful sublimation of ideas. She has received artist's grants from the Ontario Arts Council and Mississauga Art Council, been a member of the Ontario Society of Artists, as well as a member of several artist-run and commercial galleries, and her paintings can be found in private and public collections in Canada, USA, Australia and UK.
